Nope, they are not. Leather bands are popular and have a classy look but using them for running is not a good idea. Leather is not water-resistant and it acts differently with water/sweat. 

Leather bands tend to get stiff once they get wet. This makes them uncomfortable and hard to wear. Leather is an organic material so it can start rotting when soaked in water/wet emitting a foul smell. 

While I own leather bands and love wearing them for special occasions, I never use them for any kind of physical activity like running. I even refrain from wearing them on hot days as sweat is enough to ruin them.
